We acted for an offshore trust which invests in UK real estate. In the past 12 months we have purchased one office block in the City and sold another office block in the West End. The combined transactional values equate to approximately £60 million.
Our real estate team advised on all aspects of the sale and the purchase. It was necessary to have a careful structuring of all these arrangements in order to avoid any adverse tax consequences for our non-domiciled client, and we worked on this in conjunction with our firm's private client team, and with offshore lawyers representing our client's non-UK trustees.
