We concluded a claim on behalf of a cyclist who was injured while travelling to work. He was wearing a cycle helmet and appropriate cycle clothing but was hit by the large wing mirror of a transit vehicle which had been travelling behind him at a significant speed.
Our client was knocked from his bike and suffered an open fracture to his right humerus, requiring surgery, liver and spleen lacerations, a right kidney hematoma and five rib fractures. He was admitted to A&E and remained in intensive care for six days. Liability was admitted early on. Thankfully, due to the timely and appropriate treatment our client received, he was able to make a full recovery. Within 18 months of the accident, we settled the claim for £24,500.
