Our client was cycling along a busy road when he noticed a vehicle approaching from the opposite direction, in the right hand lane. As he continued to cycle along the road he was suddenly knocked off his bicycle by a wooden bed base which had not been properly secured to the defendant’s vehicle.
Liability investigations commenced and it was discovered that the defendant was uninsured and that his policy had lapsed some eight weeks before the accident occurred. Our client sustained significant injuries to his back, knees, right hand and groin following the accident. Medical experts were instructed to report on his injuries and following negotiations, our client’s claim was redirected to the Motor Insurers’ Bureau, which accepted the claim. Quantum investigations were concluded and we were able to secure a settlement for our client, despite the driver being uninsured.
