Eco friendly car design investment

The environmentally friendly City Car will be designed to be different - offering a low sales price, drastically reduced running costs and cult styling.

We were delighted to advise Gordon Murray Design on the establishment of its new base for the multi-million pound development of this car which will be available for large-scale production as well as for smaller specialist vehicle producers.

Gordon Murray is the ex-technical director of McLaren International and renowned in the Formula 1 racing world. He and his colleagues will initially be building the prototype of the City Car at their headquarters. Our real estate lawyers advised on the site acquisition of the specialist premises at Shalford, Surrey. The facility combines a modern building with an historic wharfside site.

In addition, members of our business services team acted for Gordon Murray Design on the funding aspects of this project, working to an extremely tight deadline. Financing came from US based venture capital company Mohr Davidow Ventures and the UK based Caparo Group, which is already substantially involved in the motor car industry.
