Failure to diagnose deep venous thrombosis
We are presently pursuing a claim for a man who attended at hospital with a rare type of deep venous thrombosis (DVT).
Although the condition is rare, the diagnosis is straightforward and the treatment is well documented and urgent. Despite clearly presenting with the relevant symptoms, he was left on a trolley and not properly examined or investigated.
As a result, diagnosis was delayed and when this was finally confirmed, it was too late to prevent him losing part of his leg, which was amputated above the knee.
