Our client, a professional footballer, fractured his leg in the course of a match. He was taken to hospital and underwent surgery to fix the fracture. However, this was negligently performed.
The surgeon failed properly to align a nail used to try to fix the fracture in place and to notice that the nail was proud of the bone. As a result, our client’s recovery was delayed by over seven months. Owing to that delay and because of his absence from playing for his club, our client’s contract was not renewed. Had he been properly treated, it was his case that he would have returned to full fitness and been able to prove himself before his contract was due for renewal. Instead, he lost that opportunity.
