Health centre development

Bosmere Health, a company set up by a partnership of general practitioners in Havant, consulted our real estate group in connection with its acquisition and development as a health centre of a site formerly owned by Portsmouth Water Company. It was also assisted on this project by primary care specialist Ashley House.

Significant planning difficulties were overcome to secure permission in 2006 for a 15,000 sq ft health centre. The initial application had been lodged in 2003 and negotiations with the planners had begun some considerable time before that.
 
Despite further unforeseen problems, including VAT issues, complex overage arrangements and difficult planning and highway agreements, the scheme remained on track and the company secured a long letting to Boots the Chemists to supplement a letting to the GPs' own practice. Another healthcare professional will let the remaining part of what will be one of the Government's favoured 'one stop shop' health centres.
