We successfully concluded a claim on behalf of a male motorcyclist who was injured after a van driver reversed into his path and collided with him as he was travelling along a main road. Our client subsequently collided with a lamppost sustaining numerous soft tissue injuries.
Liability for the accident was admitted very early on by the defendant but there was substantial dispute as to exactly which injuries were and were not sustained in the accident and also to what extent, if any, they were affected by any pre-existing conditions.
This was a matter initially dealt with by other solicitors but, given the unsatisfactory nature of medical evidence obtained and the low level offer received by our client, he sought a second opinion.
Having taken the case on and investigated matters, we managed to secure further expert evidence supporting the extent of injuries sustained as having been caused solely by the accident. The causative nature of the injuries was fiercely disputed by the defendant and the matter proceeded along the court timetable to trial.
Given the confidence in our expert evidence, we were prepared to proceed to trial if necessary but we managed to satisfactorily negotiate a settlement of £50,000 just three weeks beforehand.
