We have been instructed by Maersk, which owns and operates the Maersk Karachi, in relation to the collapse of a shore crane onto her deck, and the tragic loss of the crane operator.
During the course of retrieving the crane from the deck, the local contractors started a fire in the hold that could not be extinguished by the fire brigade. As a result, it was necessary to flood the hold and this caused substantial cargo loss and clean up expenditure, which is being claimed in general average.
Our experts in London were instructed to offer rapid advice and assistance to minimise the owners’ exposure. We have begun English High Court proceedings.
