Using technology to assist marine casualty investigations
Specialists from our shipping team have attended vessels equipped with VDR-software enabled laptops to allow a detailed review of data while taking the crew’s statements.
On many occasions, we have boarded container vessels to take evidence for only the few hours they are in port. Recently we have also carried out numerous witness interviews remotely and provided support to attending specialist consultants by video conference.
As a matter of course, we retain a suite of PPE, allowing our investigators to reach casualties as soon as possible and with minimum requirement for external assistance.
