The Penningtons Manches technology group will once again be supporting Silicon Valley Comes to the UK (SVC2UK) from 6 to 8 November 2013. SVC2UK brings leading Silicon Valley entrepreneurs and investors to the UK to share their views on what the future holds, and to inspire the next generation of UK business leaders.

SVC2UK aims to improve the UK’s economic growth through entrepreneurship. This year’s
programme will focus specifically on the impact that technology is having on the healthcare and education sectors. SVC2UK will convene some of the leading innovators in education and health technology to share how they are disrupting and transforming their industries and what this means for students, teachers, healthcare professionals, patients and more.

Sherry Coutu, Co-chair of SVC2UK, said: “Through SVC2UK, we focus on encouraging CEOs and founders of start-up companies to ‘scale up’ their companies and join the ‘vital 6%’ of companies that drive the jobs and GDP growth in our economy. We hope to inspire European entrepreneurs and students to start and join scaling -up ventures that shape our futures.

“This year we have chosen to focus on education-technology and health-technology as two areas poised for disruption, the outcome of which will make the lives of teachers, students and patients far better. We are seeing significant momentum in these spaces and, as they continue to experience investment and innovation, expect them to have a real impact on the UK and global economies.”

Participants at SVC2UK 2013 include business leaders from GoogleX, Edmodo, NoodleEd, Raspberry Pi, Stanford University, Proteus Digital Health, NeuroSky, Blinkx and August Capital, amongst others.

As part of the programme, top entrepreneurs who have completely transformed their respective industries in the US will talk to students, first-time CEOs, serial entrepreneurs, VCs and policymakers in the UK. In addition, hundreds of students and professional developers will also take part in coding competitions across several UK universities including Cambridge, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, UCL and the pan-London StartupHacks, using UK data sets to build applications on well-known consumer facing platforms.
