A young female pedestrian has recovered £70,000 in damages after she suffered multiple injuries when hit by a motorcycle.
At the time of the accident she had been standing on the pavement outside her home waiting to be collected by friends when, suddenly, what appeared to be an out of control motorcycle came off the road, up onto the pavement and skidded into her.
Following investigations, it later transpired that the cause of the accident was a car driver attempting to carry out a U-turn in the road without warning and immediately in the path of the motorcyclist. This forced the motorcycle off the road and into a collision with the pedestrian.
The car driver was prosecuted for driving without due care and attention. Liability was subsequently admitted for the accident by his insurers and investigations carried out, while expert medical evidence was obtained in relation to the serious upper and lower limb fractures sustained by the pedestrian. A successful resolution was achieved by Penningtons’ personal injury team through settlement negotiations prior to the issue of court proceedings.
