Capital markets specialist partner adds weight to Penningtons Manches Cooper’s corporate team

Top 50 law firm Penningtons Manches Cooper has appointed Adam Carling as a partner in its corporate practice.

Previously a partner at Bird & Bird, Adam advises on transactions on the equity capital markets as well as public and private M&A. He will be based in the firm’s London office and work closely with Seb Orton in driving the equity capital markets practice. He brings with him a very strong background in advising a range of companies and institutions, with a breadth and depth of experience that will further enhance the firm’s offering and presence in the capital markets and City institutional space.

Adam’s main sectors of focus are energy and technology and his clients include some of the leading mid-market investment banks in London. The deals he works on often have a cross-border element. He has extensive experience of pan-European M&A and regularly advises North American clients on acquisitions and financings.

In the last three years, he has advised German investment bank Berenberg and Grant Thornton, as NOMAD and broker, on two of the largest AIM IPOs: those of Supreme plc, which raised £67.5 million, and The Pebble Group plc, a provider of products, services and technology to the global promotional products industry, raising gross proceeds of approximately £135 million for the company and its selling shareholders, which included the private equity house Elysian Capital.
