Profile

Jess is an associate in the Guildford family team. She acts for clients on a wide range of family law issues including children matters, divorce and financial remedies, and domestic abuse, as well as cohabitee disputes.

Having spent a year with the family team in Guildford during her training contract at Penningtons Manches Cooper, Jess qualified as a solicitor in March 2023. Prior to this, she obtained a first-class degree from the University of Exeter, and a distinction in her Legal Practice Course at BPP University Law School. 

Jess also plays an active role in the Guildford office charity committee, and the firm’s LGBTQIA+ committee. She previously worked at a children’s home for two and a half years.

Recent work highlights

  • Successfully assisting a client with reaching a favorable settlement following a financial dispute resolution hearing, just a few weeks after instruction, when previous negotiations had stalled.
  • Assisting a client in serving their same-sex spouse with a divorce application, when living in a jurisdiction which is discriminatory to same-sex couples’ rights.
  • Acting for clients in relation to an application to discharge their special guardianship order.
  • Assisting clients with settling non-molestation proceedings by agreeing undertakings.
