Areas of expertise: Family law, Private wealth

Profile

Joanna is a senior associate in the family team in Guildford. Her legal practice deals with all aspects of relationship breakdown including divorce, financial settlements, cohabitee separations, TOLATA litigations and pre- and post-nuptial agreements. She has also acted in often complicated private law children matters throughout her career, dealing not only with the day to day issues involved in family breakdown, but also cases involving serious allegations of harm and parental alienation. Joanna has assisted clients who have sought to move internally within England and Wales, and internationally, and has dealt with associated abduction issues.

As a trained mediator, she is committed to resolving matters amicably and pragmatically, without unnecessary conflict wherever possible. Joanna strives to provide solution-focused advice to clients to assist them in achieving realistic and fair outcomes, but if best attempts at resolving matters are unsuccessful, she is experienced in helping clients through alternative dispute resolution methods, using the court process as a last resort.

Joanna is quoted in The Legal 500 as being ‘sensible, measured and a pleasure to work with. She is approachable and friendly as an opponent and able and willing to compromise’. She is a committed member of Resolution (an organisation of family lawyers and family justice professionals). Joanna has written many articles for a number of legal publications, and has regularly spoken at events, national conferences and seminars.
