Simon is an experienced transactional lawyer in the corporate team. He qualified in 1992 and has been a partner since joining the firm in 2004. Simon guides business owners and management on all of their legal requirements.

His focus is on sales and purchases, management buy outs, reorganisations and joint ventures. Simon also advises on the funding requirements of new and existing businesses and their ownership structures including shareholder and partnerships agreements, governance and best practice. He works for businesses active in the UK and internationally, and regularly advises on cross-border transactions and projects for clients looking to enter the UK market through investment or acquisition. He has a special interest in supporting clients in the vital consideration of sustainability in business transactions and the impact of law on the green economy. Simon plays a leading role in advocating for ESG measures and their development in all aspects of the firm's business, and with its clients.

International connections are an important part of Simon’s work and he is one of Penningtons Manches Cooper's contacts for Multilaw, which is a leading global association of independent law firms and one of the few major networks to offer local know-how in the world's main financial centres.

He is recognised in the latest edition of Chambers UK and is also listed as a leading individual in the latest edition of The Legal 500.

  • Leading the multi-disciplinary team advising EC Electronics, a global provider of electronic manufacturing services for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and product innovators, on its recent funding from Rockpool Investments.
  • Acting for the sellers of Riverston School (specialising in supporting children with speech, language and communication difficulties) and Beech Hall School to Chatsworth Schools.
  • Advising the shareholders of Whitespace Software on its investment and acquisition agreement with Sequel in the insuretech space.
