Christophe is a partner in the shipping group of the Paris office. He handles all aspects of French maritime law and has extensive experience of disputes relating to ship arrest, maritime carriage, salvage, collisions and ISM-related cases. His expertise extends to road carriage including CMR and aviation transport, freight forwarding, pleasure yacht disputes, and general admiralty matters.
He regularly handles disputes concerning insurance coverage in marine and non-marine insurance and his clients include P&I clubs, the French Federation for Maritime Underwriters (CESAM), and French cargo, hull and liability underwriters and insurance brokers on issues of insurance coverage. Christophe is also a recognised expert in freight forwarding and CMR claims and has authored a chapter on freight forwarding liabilities for the “Dictionnaire Permanent de Droit des Affaires”.
Following a law degree at the University of Brest, Christophe qualified as an avocat in the Paris Bar in 1995. A member of the Association pour le Management des Risques et des Assurances de l’entreprise (AMRAE), Christophe has also worked in a leading P&I club office in Paris, an international shipping firm and with club correspondents. He joined Thomas Cooper LLP as a partner in 2007. He speaks both French (mother tongue) and English and regularly lectures at several French universities.
