Profile

Evelyn is a senior associate in the firm’s Piraeus office who specialises in marine law and shipping disputes. She advises on charterparty, bills of lading, underperformance, bunkers, marine insurance, international trade and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) disputes.

Prior to joining the firm, Evelyn worked for two years in a Greek shipping litigation firm and for one year as the head of the legal department in a Greek shipping company. This experience gave Evelyn considerable practical and commercial insight into the day-to-day operation of a shipping company as she worked closely with various departments. She has advised, and continues to assist clients, on vessels’ arrests, bunker (OW Bunker) and pollution disputes and security / enforcement proceedings in Greece. She has also acted on the establishment of Greek offices for offshore based corporations.

Evelyn is qualified in Greece and in England and Wales. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Athens and a Master of Laws (LLM) in maritime law from the University of Southampton.

Recent work highlights

  • Assisting with the trial preparations for a high-profile large marine insurance case heard before the UK Supreme Court.
  • Advising on a highly-complex stevedore damage claim for an intermediate charterer and dealing with the claim up and down the charterparty chain.
  • Assisting in an anti-suit injunction in the UK to prevent the arrest of a vessel and the commencement of substantive proceedings in the UAE in breach of the charterparty clauses.
