Profile

Harry is a lawyer in the marine, trade and aviation team based in the Piraeus office. His work involves handling of all aspects of dry disputes arising out of the international trade and has experience in charterparty, bill of lading and contractual disputes. Harry is also part of the firm's global sanctions team providing legal advice on sanctions enquiries. 

Prior to joining Penningtons Manches Cooper, Harry worked for six years as legal counsel at major shipping companies in Greece and Switzerland where he handled a wide variety of P&I, FD&D and H&M claims and also was involved in the negotiation of shipping and commercial contracts with international traders and financial institutions. 

Harry is a Greek-European qualified lawyer and holds a law degree (LL.B) from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece and a masters (LLM) in maritime law from Swansea University. 

Recent work highlights

  • Assisting in off-spec bunker claims involving a high value of off-hire and main engine damages.
  • Advising on sanction enquiries relating to the loading of Kazakh coal cargo in Russia and the involvement of a designated person in a transactional matter.
  • Assisting in advising on a voyage charterparty dispute arising from the frustration of the contract, involving freight, demurrage and detention claim.
