Profile

Mona is a partner in the corporate team in London. She advises on UK and cross-border acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures and strategic partnerships, management buy-outs/buy-ins, restructurings and mergers, as well as representing stakeholders in sophisticated acquisitions, group restructurings and complex joint venture shareholder arrangements. In the last year Mona has advised several companies on the impact of the National Security and Investment Act 2021 on their transactions and prepared the relevant notification submissions.

Her broad commercial practice assists clients with their commercial contracts, including distribution arrangements, complex and bespoke supply and outsourcing agreements, technology and intellectual property contracts, data exploitation, licensing, collaboration, sponsorship and online promotions.

Mona has worked for clients in several different business and industry sectors including insurance, shipping, energy, business and finance, aviation, software, technology, ecommerce, telecommunications and media. She acts for insurers and other financial institutions, and shipping, transportation, technology, oil and gas companies, in a number of market segments and jurisdictions. In the last two years Mona has also assisted clients working within the Covid-19 testing market, from screening to genome testing services. She also has significant industry experience working in-house with her clients, having completed two client secondments with insurer Royal & Sun Alliance and Emirates Airlines.

Ranked as a Next Generation Partner in The Legal 500 in 2020, 2021 and 2022, as well as a Key Lawyer, Mona is recognised in the insurance corporate and regulatory section of The Legal 500 UK as ‘having strong transactional and regulatory experience’. She is also described in the M&A smaller deals (up to £50 million) section as ‘an excellent all-round lawyer, highly skilled technically with extensive knowledge of specialist subjects and a graceful professional style’; ‘strong in negotiations with a good sense for solutions’; and ‘particularly strong in the energy, insurance and shipping sectors with joint ventures as a speciality’.

  • Advised a Tokyo-listed manufacturer on the UK aspects of its acquisition of a Denmark-headquartered provider of advanced optical fibre, supercontinuum sources, and fibre lasers.
  • Advised an Austrian integrated production agency on its disposal of its UK retail printing solution businesses.
  • Advised a Dutch client, and its private equity stakeholder, on its acquisition of a UK customs management business.
  • Advised a Bahamian technical ship management company on its joint venture with an Indian software house to develop an onboard e-logging solution.
  • Advised an Oslo Bors-listed seabed-to-surface engineering, construction and services contractor on its agreement to acquire a leading energy consultancy firm.
