Profile

Oliver is an associate in the construction and infrastructure team, specialising in construction disputes.

He has advised on a variety of issues, from interim payment disputes to prolongation and liquidated damages claims, for a wide range of clients, including M&E contractors, carpentry and joinery specialists, recruitment agencies and labour suppliers, brick workers, scaffolders and groundworks companies, as well as small residential contractors. Many of these disputes have been with national contractors and housing developers. 

With a particular interest in adjudication, Oliver is well versed in its use to recover unpaid invoices and retentions, as well as resolving other construction related disputes. He also holds higher rights of audience. Oliver qualified in 2020 and joined the firm as an associate in 2023 from a small specialist construction practice, where he practised alongside a nationally renowned construction adjudicator.

Recent work highlights

  • Assisted with the enforcement of several adjudicators’ decisions in the High Court in the reported case of Exyte Hargreaves Limited v NG Bailey Limited.
  • Assisting in a adjudication concerning a claim for prolongation of work, with sums being claimed in excess of £500,000.
  • Appearing on behalf of a small contractor in the Central London County Court (TCC) and obtaining enforcement of an adjudicator’s decision.
  • Defending a claim in excess of £100,000 in relation to fire-stopping defects for a brickwork subcontractor.
