Profile

Andrew is an associate in the contentious private client team. He has experience of acting for private individuals, trustees and charities on a range of contentious trust and probate matters.

He specialises in issues and disputes arising out of the administration of trusts and estates, cases concerning the validity of wills and claims for financial provision under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975.

Andrew joined Penningtons Manches Cooper in 2021 after qualifying in 2020 at a regional firm reputed for its contentious private client work. He is listed as a 'Recommended Lawyer' in The Legal 500, and has also been named as an 'associate to watch' in Chambers High Net Worth, for private wealth disputes. Andrew is a member of STEP, the world's leading organisation for private wealth professionals. 

Recent work highlights

  • Acting for the first defendant in the case of Folds Farm Trustees Ltd and another company v Cutts and others [2024] EWHC 12 (Ch).
  • Advising on a challenge to the validity of the will of an ultra-high-net-worth individual on grounds of lack of testamentary capacity, lack of knowledge and approval and undue influence.
  • Acting for charities on the recovery of legacies from unresponsive and ‘problem’ executors, as well as negotiating the removal of those executors.
  • Representing a trustee of a discretionary will trust of significant value in relation to a dispute over the exercise of their powers as trustee.
