Profile

Chris is a senior associate in the London commercial dispute resolution team. He qualified into commercial litigation having trained with Manches and has a particular interest in IP litigation. Prior to becoming a solicitor, Chris was a staff reporter on the Evening Standard, where he specialised in investigative reporting, covering the Damilola Taylor inquiry, the disappearance of Madeleine McCann and carried out a number of undercover investigations.

He has worked on both the High Court trial and appeal of the trade mark and passing off dispute between the estate agency, Fine & Country Ltd & Ors v Okotoks Ltd & Ors [2012] EWCH 2230 (Ch).

He writes regularly for Commercial Litigation Journal and Solicitors Journal.

Recent work highlights

  • Assisting the team acting for the defendant in a trade mark infringement case brought against a major estate agency business, Fine & Country Ltd.
  • Acting for a well-known Japanese company in a breach of warranty claim brought by a Swiss manufacturer and UK private equity business. The case was settled two months before trial.
  • Assisting in the widely reported High Court case of a widower who sought judicial review of the fact that his pension was significantly less than that to which a woman in the same position would have been entitled.
