Profile

Laura is an associate in the clinical negligence and personal injury team. She deals with a range of clinical negligence claims but has a special interest in surgical claims and claims surrounding the care of the elderly. She also assists on personal injury cases involving a variety of complex orthopaedic injuries. Laura has an interest in inquest work, assisting senior team members with these cases. She also works with senior members of the team on high value claims involving brain injuries.

Training with a large regional firm, Laura began her legal career with two years in its general litigation team, before gaining five years of experience specialising in clinical negligence and personal injury cases. She qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in April 2019 and joined Penningtons Manches Cooper in August 2019.

Recent work highlights

  • Securing settlement for an elderly client who sustained serious orthopaedic injuries in a road traffic accident.
  • Assisting with a complex surgical negligence case and attending a settlement meeting at which damages were agreed, despite no admission of liability from the defendant.
  • Preparing detailed witness statements for multiple witnesses at an inquest.
  • Assisting with various aspects of a never event case involving an above knee amputation.
  • Assisting on a clinical negligence case involving a serious brain injury, including preparing liability statements and attending conferences with experts.
