Profile

Afeefah is a senior associate in the immigration team advising high net worth individuals and corporate clients on all areas of immigration law. She uses her technical knowledge and expertise to deliver bespoke immigration solutions and deal with exceptional cases.

Working across a variety of sectors, Afeefah provides strategic advice to major companies, supports start-ups through the sponsor licence application process, helps organisations of all sizes to ensure immigration compliance and assists HR teams on the prevention of illegal working through the conduct of audits and right to work checks. Afeefah has also secured entrepreneur and investor visas for high net worth individuals and ensures they continue to meet the eligibility requirements by giving them tailored legal advice following the grants of their visas.

Afeefah qualified in 2016 and joined Penningtons Manches Cooper in 2018. She has been recognised in The Legal 500  directory as a ‘next generation lawyer’ and is described by clients as having a ‘deep understanding of business immigration matters’. She is a member of the Immigration Law Practitioners Association and has spoken about immigration matters at Industry and Parliament Trust and CBI roundtable discussions. In addition, Afeefah currently holds the role of co-chair of the firm’s race and faith subcommittee.

  • Assisting a major telecommunications company on a compliance visit and making representations where UKVI raised issues with genuine vacancies.
  • Successfully obtaining a sponsor licence for a tech subsidiary and assisting in the transfer of skilled workers from its parent.
  • Advising numerous UK companies on the impact of Brexit on their workforce, helping implement strategies and assisting their employees with PR applications.
